Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Pendle Doors are a family run business who are proud of our Lancashire heritage and the progress we’ve made since 1957, going from 3 employees to 43 in 2023. We now have aspirations and a goal to employ an additional 30 people by 2025/2026 to support our ambitious growth plans.
Pendle Doors are always keen to provide employment opportunities within the local area and have previously invested in apprenticeships and work placements with the local colleges and Universities.
We are also committed to our charity and local community partnerships, which see us working with, raising money for and supporting the Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone and East Lancashire Hospice. Throughout the year we also get involved in other charitable activities and encourage our colleagues to join us in events such as bake sales, sponsored events and competitions all in the aid of either raising awareness of causes that may affect our colleagues or are important to them.
Our company values, created and defined in collaboration with our team are evolving to become more central as to how we conduct business, how we behave with each other, our customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. It is informing how we recruit, how we support colleagues both professionally and personally and also informing our future aspirations of continuing to create a great place to work.
We conduct 2 formal appraisals every year (beginning and mid year) with every member of staff to understand their training and development needs, their future aspirations, interests and possible next career move. This informs our succession planning activity and also focuses our approach in training plans across the year.
Work is where people spend most of their time and we understand the importance of creating a supportive, engaging and motivating work place. Through our employee engagement surveys, our yearly all staff company away day and regular team meetings we continue to explore how we can enhance and develop our rewards and benefits. We are also committed to our employees health and wellbeing and have recently supported a member of the team to become a mental health first aider who provides information. We are also looking forward to developing a broader wellbeing strategy in 2024 in collaboration with our staff to further develop our focus in this area.
Following feedback, we are also getting better at communication across the business with the launch of a quarterly company newsletter, team away days, and looking to use technology to improve our ‘real time’ information to staff across the business when we launch our new site. We are also making improvements to the facilities at our current site by investing in a new toilet block, canteen and relaxation area, where we have a plan to install a TV, pool table and other facilities to allow our employees to relax in-between work.
We welcome applications to our current vacancies but if you are interested in working for us despite not seeing any current vacancies, please do not hesitate in sending your cv and a covering letter to Rebecca Barrow (HR Manager) rebecca@pendledoors.co.uk for consideration. If we do not have a suitable vacancy at the time we commit, where possible, to providing you with feedback.
