- Salary – £25,000 – £27,000 depending on experience
- Working hours – Monday to Thursday between 8am and 5pm, Friday 6am to 4pm (total 39.25 hours per week)
Pendle Doors is growing quickly. In the past year, we’ve opened a new manufacturing site in Lower Darwen, doubled the size of our Sales team, and expanded our production department. As we continue to grow, we’re now on the look out for someone who can help us buy all our raw materials, hardware and stock to support our experienced Purchasing Manager.
Whilst ideal, we do not expect you to join us with an in-depth knowledge of the fire doorset manufacturing industry or the goods we produce, however, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to adapt their skills to the supply and procurement of raw materials that best suit our production processes.
Main Responsibilities
A major part of the role will be focused around the understanding of the role and function of the Purchasing Manager, and providing support to this pivotal role within the business.
To learn and appreciate the current production software, and gain a full understanding of the processes involved, and be part of a wider team, integrating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and scrutinising works orders, determining ‘job specific’ raw materials and procuring these items correctly, and in good time
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve best value, forging strategic partnerships and building long-term supplier relationships
- Confidence to challenge and work with existing and new suppliers in order to negotiate best possible outcomes
- Review supplier performance, working within set KPIs
- Collaborating with Inventory/Materials Controller and Production teams to ensure that materials and stock levels are aligned to production and usage levels
- To liaise with the Sales team to assist to ensure compliance and a seamless customer experience
- Assist in the development of inventory management procedures and policies
- To proactively learn all processes within the purchasing and goods inwards teams, to ensure a full understanding and empathetic approach

- An excellent level of IT literacy, to include a working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail

- Experience of dealing with a range of supplier and internal department queries in a professional manner, focusing on developing professional working relationships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and be confident when working independently

- Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines
- To be able to think quickly under pressure
Desirable
- Experience of using Sage and Monday.com, or other similar software
- Previous Joinery or Fire Door manufacturing experience
- Previous experience with ironmongery
- Previous experience within the manufacturing sector
Training & Development
We would anticipate a training period of 6 months to understand the current product profile, procedures and processes revolving around this highly legislative focused market sector.
During this time, we would welcome and encourage our new team member to challenge us, present and implement new processes, systems and ways of working both internally and externally. Therefore, there is considerable scope within this new role to make a massive impact within the team and broader business.
